Baseball rules apply except for the following modifications:
Games shall consist of five (5) innings. No inning shall start after one-hour and forty-five minutes from the start time of the game. Our goal is to complete all games within two hours.
Sides will change after three (3) outs are recorded or until five (5) runs are scored. The batting order will continue where it left off after the previous inning ended.
A coach will pitch to his team's players by standing or kneeling in the pitcher’s mound area.Any batted ball striking the coach shall be considered a dead ball and the at-bat should be repeated.
The batter has eight pitches to put the ball in play.If the player has not put the ball in play in eight pitches the batter is out (this will not count towards the outs in the inning).
After the ball is hit, the batter and runners may advance as many bases as possible as long as the ball is in the outfield.Once the ball reaches the infield, the runners should be held at the next base they reach.
Each team should play all players on the field each inning. Please maintain normal infield positions, and the pitcher must stay within the pitcher’s mound area until the ball is hit.Extra players should be placed in the
outfield. As many as six outfielders can be accommodated with a four-across and two-deep alignment (LF, LC, RC,
RF, Deep LC, and Deep RC).Players should be played at a different position every two (2) inning, and all players should have an equal opportunity to play the infield.
The pitcher and catcher should wear a caged-face batting helmet while on the field. Defensive coaches are permitted on the field behind the infielders.Offensive coaches will serve as umpires.
There should be no headfirst sliding, leadoffs, stealing, or advancing on passed balls or overthrows.Runners should not leave the base until the ball is hit.
There are no walks or strikeouts (only in the coach pitch innings). There is no intentional bunting. No infield fly rule will be used.
All batters and baserunners must wear a batting helmet. All players must wear long baseball pants for practice and games.Players in shorts should be prohibited from participating in the game for safety purposes.
All catchers should wear appropriate catcher’s equipment (headgear, chest protector, and shin guards).
Bases are 50 ft.
Kid Pitching Inning
Kids pitch first or last inning (agreed upon by coaches before start of the game).
Each pitcher will be allowed 25 total pitches. (Please warm your pitches up before they pitch)
Pitchers mound should be 40 feet.
Pitcher must wear caged helmet when pitching.
Pitcher will pitch to the opposing team not his own.
Balls and strikes will be called when kids pitch (3 strikes out, 4 balls walks)
The 5 run rule applies to this inning as well.
A defensive coach may stand behind pitcher to give limited pitching instruction.
Sportsmanship:
There should be no taunting, teasing or belittling of another player.Infield chatter (“Hey Batter”) is acceptable as long as it does not cross the line of good sportsmanship.Due to proximity to the batter, the catcher
should refrain from chattering.Encourage your players to congratulate a teammate or competitor on a good play or hit. Both teams should shake hands at the conclusion of each game.
Promote the ideals of fun, player development, and the spirit of competition. You are given a scorebook for the purposes of keeping track of outs, scorekeeping is not allowed. Informal statistics are allowed ONLY IN A POSITIVE MANNER AND AT THIS LEVEL, EVERY KID IS A WINNER.
To manage the length of each game, please follow the guidelines below to improve game speed:
The pitcher should take four baseballs to the mound.Balls caught by the catcher should be set aside, and passed balls gathered by a another coach.
Infield warm-ups before the first inning only.
Predetermine your batting order and fielding positions for each inning prior to the game.
Enlist enough help from parents to have a bench coach to keep players organized, under control and ready to play.
